This week I am studying at the Glasgow Museums collection in the Nitshill Resource Center. The facility looks a great deal like the Smithsonian museum with moveable shelves in a climate controlled warehouse-like environment. The Kelvingrove Museum is part of Glasgow Museums. Kelvingrove repatriated a ghost dance shirt to the Wounded Knee Survivors Association in 1999. Currently, the ghost dance shirt replacement that Marcella LeBeau made is one of the largest viewed items within the collection (or so I was told today).
There are a vast number of Native American collections at this Glasgow location and it is taking a long time to go through them. I will be here for 3 weeks. In the evenings, I am processing the information that I recorded at the University of Aberdeen.
